Computer science Lesson Plan
Class: 7th - Lesson:8 Animation

Purpose: Students should learn the use of programming concepts (Motion, Looks, Events, Variables, Operators, and Custom Events) and develop their own animation projects using sequences and loops.

No. of Classes

One or two classes (Teacher's decision).

Materials Required

Scratch 3.0.

Prior knowledge

Students should have a good knowledge of Sprites, Backdrops, Costumes, Variables, Operators, Conditional Statements, Loops, Events, and Sensing in Scratch.

Exercises

Exercise:1

  • Identify a small video on the internet. Convert that into a gif and then to a series of costumes or backdrops. Add sprites and dialogues to make an animation movie with your own imagination.
  • Solutions

  • Link to copy solution program for exercise-1.

  • Teacher's Instruction
    1. Teachers should recall Variables, Operators, Lists, Broadcasts, and other Scratch concepts taught earlier.
    2. Teachers should motivate Students to write an algorithm(Documentation) to create a story.
    3. Teachers should teach how animations are created and how GIF files can be used to create animations.
    4. Teachers should explain that when a GIF file is uploaded into Scratch, each frame of the GIF is converted into a separate costume.
    5. POINTS TO PONDER :What are anime and rotoscoping animation?
